Science

At Hackleton CEVA Primary School, we aim to provide all pupils with a science education that enables them to explore and discover the world around them, fostering a curiosity and fascination about our universe and preparing them for life in an increasingly scientific and technological world.

Our spiral knowledge-based curriculum builds upon previous knowledge and sets foundations for future learning. Through this curriculum, children will acquire and develop:

  • Scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics;
  • Understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of scientific enquiry that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them;
  • The scientific skills required to understand the uses and implications of science, both for today and for the future.

The objectives for Science in KS1 and KS2 are clearly set out for each year group in the National Curriculum which can be found by clicking the link below.
