Sport

We are extremely proud to have held the Gold School Games Mark for a number of years.  This award recognises the importance we put on sport and exercise at Hackleton for both physical and mental health.  In addition to curriculum PE, we ensure that every child gets the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular sport.  Bikeabilty is offered in several year groups including Reception class and all children in Key Stage one are invited to fully inclusive sports events led by specialists at a local secondary school.  In association with Northamptonshire School Sport Partnership and our local cluster schools, we are involved in a range of sporting events and competitions ranging from hockey to athletics to boccia. Every level of ability is catered for with events organised for elite players, those developing skills and for children with SEND. In school, we provide children with a range of sporting activities at lunchtime including a coaching session for each class, a park equipment play area and trained Year 6 sports leaders, who organise and run games and challenges.  Hackleton Sports Day is a big event in our school calendar.  Children represent their house and compete in a range of races with their peers, staff and families cheering them on.  There’s even time for a parents’ race before refreshments provided by the HSA and a family picnic. There are a wide range of before and after school sports clubs run for our youngest to our oldest children.  These include ballroom dancing, archery and basketball.
