Starting school is a very special milestone—for both children and their families—and we are delighted to welcome you to our school community.
We understand that this new chapter can bring a mixture of excitement and a few nerves. Our aim is to make the transition into school life as smooth, happy, and positive as possible. Our caring staff create a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and ready to learn from day one.
Preparing for September
We offer a number of opportunities to help both children and parents feel confident and well-prepared before the school year begins.
In June, we invite all new Reception parents to attend a welcome meeting where you can meet staff, find out about daily routines, and ask any questions you may have.
Children are also invited to attend “stay and play” sessions, giving them the chance to become familiar with their new classroom, meet their teacher, and begin to make new friends in a relaxed and supportive environment.
To further support a smooth transition, our staff carry out home visits. These are a valuable opportunity for us to get to know your child in a familiar setting and begin building positive relationships from the start.
Helping Your Child Get Ready
There are lots of simple things you can do at home to help your child feel confident as they begin school. Encouraging independence—such as putting on their coat, using the toilet independently, and tidying away toys—can make a big difference. Talking positively about school, reading together, and establishing routines will also help children feel prepared and secure.
We work closely with families to ensure each child settles in happily and quickly. Every child develops at their own pace, and we are here to support them every step of the way.
Working Together
We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is key to a successful start. We value your knowledge of your child and encourage open communication so we can work together to support their development, wellbeing, and happiness.
