At Hackleton CE VA Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils are given a wide range of opportunities to discover and develop their individual talents and interests, enabling them to flourish both during their time with us and beyond.
Drama and performing are an integral part of school life at Hackleton. Every child, in every year group, is provided with opportunities to participate in Christmas performances and class productions. These experiences play a key role in developing pupils’ self-confidence, resilience, and sense of achievement.
Through regular opportunities to perform, pupils build strong oracy skills and develop confidence in public speaking—essential life skills that support their wider learning across the curriculum. As pupils move through the school, we see clear progression in their confidence, expression, and ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Our older pupils culminate their journey with a large-scale end-of-year production. Previous performances have included well-known shows such as Mary Poppins, The Lion King, and Shrek. These productions provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to take on a range of roles, ensuring that every child can excel and contribute in a way that reflects their strengths.
Pupils are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of production, from acting, singing, and dancing to designing sets and props, and managing sound and lighting. This inclusive approach promotes teamwork, creativity, and responsibility, ensuring that all pupils feel valued and successful.
We firmly believe that these experiences have a lasting impact, helping to develop confident, articulate, and collaborative learners, while fostering a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
