Packed Lunches
Children may bring a packed lunch as an alternative to a school lunch. We recommend that you include a cool pack in your child's lunch box as they are stored in warm classrooms/corridors during the day.
We encourage families to ensure that their child's packed lunch provides a healthy, balanced diet. Guidance on a healthy lunchbox can be found on the Change 4 Life website.
Please note, packed lunches should not include:
- Nuts and nut products (we have a number of children with nut allergies in school)
- Drinks other than water or milk.
- Confectionery such as chocolate bars and sweets.
Breaktime Snacks
Pupils in KS1 benefit from the free Fruit and Vegetables Scheme. These pupils will be encouraged to eat a piece of fruit daily at break time. To ensure consistency across the school, KS2 children are only permitted to eat fresh fruit or vegetables at break time.
Drinks
Children should only drink water or milk at school. Drinking water is available in all classrooms. Semi-skimmed and lactose-free milk is available to drink once a day if parents wish to purchase it through the milk scheme. Children under five are entitled to milk free of charge.
All children are given a water bottle when they start school and replacement bottles/lids can be purchased from the school office. If children bring in a water bottle from home, it should not exceed 500ml in capacity.
How do I find out if my older child is entitled to free school meals?
