Volunteering in school
We welcome parents, grandparents, carers and other members of the local community into school as volunteers. There are many ways in which you can help out in school.
Reading
We have a group of regular volunteers who come into school on a weekly basis to hear children read and the children really look forward to their visits. This ‘offer’ is open to anyone in the community who would like to help us. All we ask is that you have the time to commit each week at an arranged time for the whole academic year. Please be aware that we will not place a volunteer in their own child’s (or grandchild’s) class.
Maintaining the Peace Garden
If anyone is ‘green-fingered’ and would be happy to provide the occasional hour or two of weeding and pruning in our Peace Garden or helping to maintain the Early Years garden throughout the year then we would be extremely grateful.
Other support
Occasionally there are other ways that we would benefit from help in school from support with practical activities such as sewing or cooking to putting stickers on reading books. If you would like to be added to a list of volunteers happy to provide occasional support in school or you have a particular skill that you think would be beneficial to our children then please do contact the school office.
As part of our safeguarding children responsibilities, we do require all regular volunteers who will be working directly with children to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service form (DBS) and attend a very short information meeting, before starting with us.
